Sweet summertime is near: Dine lakeside in North Alabama

Few things scream summer like enjoying a good meal and a refreshing beverage by the water. In North Alabama, the options are endless for casual lakeside dining. Start unwinding a little early this summer season at these can’t-miss waterfront restaurants.

The Boat House Lakeside Bar & Grill

Take in the view of beautiful Lake Guntersville as you sample a wide variety of food from coconut shrimp to Mahi tacos to vegetable stir-fry. Don’t sleep on the Greek fries for an appetizer; they are simply mouth-watering.

Stanfield’s River Bottom Grille

Located in the Florence Harbor Marina, the only floating restaurant in the Shoals offers an eclectic menu with made-from-scratch dishes like alligator tail, crab legs and island chicken. Good times are to be had at River Bottom Grill as you “eat, drink and float” your way to a relaxing and memorable experience.

Homecoming Café & Country Store

Pull your boat up to the Homecoming Café in Langston at South Sauty Creek and be transported to a simpler time of old country stores and really, really good food. Everything on the menu is made fresh from scratch with local ingredients by creative chef and owner, Jessica Hanners, whose homecoming from working in many large cities across the nation inspired the name of the restaurant. She features a Friday night dinner special every week that always sounds as intriguing as it is delicious, such as crispy fried gulf shrimp over Pimento cheese grits or grass-fed ribeye steak and strawberry cake for dessert. Homecoming Café is open for breakfast, too; and, trust, you do not want to miss out on the most delicious homemade buttermilk biscuits you’ve ever tasted.

Decks & Docks

Situated directly on Weiss Lake in Leesburg, Decks & Docks is exactly as it sounds. With a large outdoor porch area for dining and a double-decker dock, complete with bar. Seafood is on the menu and live music frequently enhances the chill lakeside atmosphere.

Legends on the Lake

A new Lake Guntersville waterfront eatery, Legends has plenty of outdoor seating, good food, live music; and you might even catch a breathtaking Guntersville sunset while dining.

Little Bridge Marina

On the Coosa River in Rainbow City, Little Bridge sells BBQ, gasoline and beverages. Dock your boat, gas it up and hop inside for a cold beer and a BBQ pork sandwich. Local and regional musical acts keep guests on the covered porch entertained every Thursday through Saturday.

The Docks at Goose Pond

It’s come-as-you-are at this casual fine dining Scottsboro eatery. Don’t let the boat hair fool you into thinking the food is anything less than phenomenal, though. Pan-seared crab cakes, shrimp and grits and Hawaiian-grilled ribeye are part of an extensive and varied menu, along with nightly specials and a full-service bar. Save room for the tuna bites appetizer and Key lime pie. Nestled in the pines of Goose Pond Colony Resort, the steak and seafood restaurant sits right on the Tennessee River.

As the weather warms up, kick back, relax and be sure to add these waterfront restaurants to your summer bucket list.
