Annual Huntsville Restaurant Week to be ‘main course’ of Culinary Month

HUNTSVILLE — Foodies of Huntsville, your month has arrived.

Through the end of August, the Rocket City will be celebrating its unique cuisines and beverages with Culinary Month. This year, the month’s main event is the 12th annual Huntsville Restaurant Week.

Created by the Huntsville/Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau in 2012, the 10-day “week” was originally meant to promote and and create addtional business for restaurants in the area.

The “week” runs Aug. 9-18. Participants will have access to exclusive menus and will be given an array of special offers from restaurateurs.

“Our local restaurants are an integral part of our identity as a premier travel destination, and Culinary Month is just as much a celebration for our restaurants as it is for visitors and locals,” said Jennifer Moore, president/CEO of the CVB. “This campaign is one way of expressing our appreciation for the restaurateurs throughout our community.”

Pam Williams, who spearheads Culinary Month for the CVB, said the dining scene in Huntsville grows every year.

“Being home to Redstone, Marshall Space Flight Center, and scores of international companies attracts new residents who bring their culinary influences with them,” she said. “This is reflected in the ever-growing variety of options. We encourage everyone to savor the flavors of the local cuisine and take advantage of Culinary Month special events throughout August.”
